Krystals in Atlanta

Congrats to both Chip and Eater-X for an amazing showing. Chip was declared the winner of this close match up with 53 Krystal hamburgers and Tim got credit for 52.5 I believe. In third place was Justin Mih with 33 and then Bubba with 26. That is a lot of Krystals eaten. Wow. Just think of all those delicious Krystals. With all the empty boxes you could probably build an amazing Krystal box castle or something. Not that I do that with mine or anything. ;o)

IFOCE this week.

GoldenPalace.net Okra Eating contest: Congrats to Sonya for winning a title over some good competition. It sounds like Pat and Sonya were neck and neck. Patrick never ceases to impress me. Erik the Red also did very nice getting third and eating 5 lbs. of food. Solid job Erik!

Harrah's 2nd Annual Pulled Pork Eating Championship: As everyone knows Joey Chestnut is the man. He won eating 9.6 lbs. of pulled pork. Chip, showing why he is one of the top eaters in the world got second with a great showing as well. Last, but not the least, Rich LeFevre got third. Rich LeFevre is an awesome competitor and continues to stay at the top of the rankings as well. This man can eat all day. I have seen it first hand. Great job to all.

Krystal Squareoff qualifier in Knoxville: Congratulations to Patrick for a dominating performance and reserving his seat at the Krystal Championship table. Not only does Patrick have capacity, but I think his biggest strength is speed. This bodes well for Patrick with the 8 minute contest. I don't know the second and third place guys yet, but I know Larry got 28. Not a bad number Larry. You still have another shot to do better, so keep your head up.

One last comment is I actually have more pictures from Krystal in Jacksonville believe it or not. By the way if anyone sees any pics of themselves they want or any pics at all I can send you the full version upon request. This is true for any pictures you see on my site. Just drop me an email and I will send you the actual pic. I am trying to master the flickr webpage, so this is my first attempt. Here it goes. Jacksonville Krystal.

Krystals + Waffle House = busy weekend

So after sleeping for the last 2.5 days I am now awake and can write a little something about the weekend. My first contest this weekend was at Waffle House. I have been waiting a year to do this one again. Last year I ate 6 if I remember correctly and this year I ate 14. Despite not matching Joey's record of 18.5 from last year, I was pleased with my 14 this year. The contest was packed this year. Joey, Sonya, Chip, Bubba, Larry "Legend", Super Paul, Crazy Legs, and I am sure I am forgetting even more. There were also a few others that haven't been around too much. There was Eric Broe, the FSU football player that competed well in Key Lime earlier this year. Another I met was someone new to the circuit. I forget his name, unfortunately I have this disease where I can never remember someone's name after only meeting them once. I only remember him because he said he has been following competitive eating via internet/tv since he was 14. Waffle House was the first contest he could compete in now that he is old enough and he seemed pretty excited to be competing. In my opinion everyone did really well this year in the Waffle House contest and I thought it had a really great environment and turnout.

After Waffle House I ended up hanging around Stone Mountain for a little while chatting it up with a bunch of my friends and competitive eating supporters who showed up. After that I headed to a Goo Goo Dolls concert (thanks Mike) which turned out to make me head home later than I originally planned. It was a blast though. Unfortunately it made for a long trip through the night.

Krystal burgers was the next contest of the extended weekend. I had a fun time at the contest and was extremely happy to see all kinds of people show up to support me in Jacksonville. I know you read my website, so thanks again for cheering me on and showing up all dressed up too. You guys are great. Again this was another packed contest. I believe the complete results and names are on www.krystal.com . Just click on the squareoff tab. Though I didn't win the 8-minute contest I did get the record for the 2-minute record this year in Jacksonville. I suppose this was the silver lining. I appologize for not having pictures again. What can I say? Maybe someday. LOL ;o)

PS My hat goes off to those that competed multiple times in the extended weekend. I don't know how they did it. Great job Crazy Legs, Chip, Sonya, and Joey just to name afew.

Thanks for the pics Eric and thanks to all of my family, friends, and supporters coming out.

14 Krystals in 2 minutes

So, if you didn't hear I did 14 Krystals in 2 minutes. I believe this is the Jacksonville record. Supposedly it didn't show on the Krystal website. Sorry about that. It was crazy. I ended up having to drive straight there from work and of course the bridge from on side of the river to the other was up letting a boat go underneath when I got there, so I had to wait. Then I get across and the only place close was a parking lot you had to pay 5 or 10 bucks to get in. I started to pull in and realized I only had $1 left in my wallet. So I back out and around people who must have thought I was crazy and ended up parking 4 blocks away from where the contest was being held. I sprint all the way there in my dress clothes, check in, get announced to go on stage, ran up and then ate. Crazy.
This is only the begining though. I don't have time to type it all now, but I will let you guys know as soon as I get the chance.
