This one hour special, MLE Chowdown: Wedges And Wings, will air
Thursday, October 18 at 11:00pm ET/PT on Spike TV.
Joey Chestnut sits atop the competitive eating world following his
seemingly biblical performance on July 4th as he honored his country by
downing a jaw-dropping 66 hot dogs in 12 minutes. Chestnut, eating out of
San Jose, CA., topped his nemesis Kobayashi by 3 dogs and claimed the world
record. Now, he steps up to the plate once again on national television to
go chew for chew with Kobayashi in Buffalo Wild Wings(R) consumption.
Chestnut holds the world record of eating 7.5 lbs. of chicken wings in 12
minutes set this past May.
Joining Chestnut and Kobayashi will be the top Major League Eaters in
the world including Patrick Bertoletti (winner of Spike TV's St. 2007
Patrick's Day Chowdown), Tim "Eater X" Janus, "Humble" Bob Shoudt, Richard
LeFevre, Juliet Lee, and Hall Hunt.
This event marks the second MLE on Spike TV. The first, The St.
Patrick's Day Chowdown, featuring corned beef and cabbage, green donuts,
and jalapenos, drew a robust 739,000 viewers on March 17.
Christopher Martello is vice president, sports & specials, Spike TV.
Scott Fishman is executive in charge of production for Spike TV. David Baer
is executive producer for Shea Baer Productions, which will produce the
